Public Talk “Crystalline Metamorphosis: Exploring the Alchemy of Healing and Transformation”

NIKA Project Space

Join us on December 1 at 17:00 for a public talk, “Crystalline Metamorphosis: Exploring the Alchemy of Healing and Transformation,” featuring artist Sara Niroobakhsh and scientist Dr. Wegood Awad.

As part of the “Tabalvour” project represented at our gallery, which explores the symbolic journey of crystallization, artist Sara Niroobakhsh and Dr. Wegood Awad will discuss the scientific potential of crystals in the fight against cancer.

This interdisciplinary dialogue promises an insightful exploration of the convergence of art and science, challenging conventional perspectives on healing and transformation.

Wegood Awad graduated with a BSc in chemical engineering and is now a global Ph.D. fellow in Chemistry at both NYU and NYUAD. Her interest in material science stemmed from her work on using 3D printing to solve the issue of heavy weighed prosthetics, which in turn sparked her interest in her ongoing projects.

Sara Niroobakhsh references the notion of cultural objects through installations and performance layered with her own technology and science-based interventions. She has spent the last decade integrating an academic education in the visual arts with a hybrid professional practice marshaling unique combinations of performance, photography, video and new media to engage the globalizing feminine psyche.
